| Textile & Silk is the traditional industry of Danyang. In the recent several years, through introducing 1,200 sets of water-jet looms, 1,100 sets of air-jet looms, 200 sets of rapier looms, one non-woven cloth streamline and one short polypropylene fiber production line and a series of post-dyeing arrangement & sewing machines, computer-cutting system, computer-embroidering machine, computer quilter and other equipment and technologies, the technologically equipped level of our textile & silk industry has been greatly improved. Lots of products with high technology contents have been developed such as aseptic cloth, anti-electrostatic shell fabric, anti-pilling yarn, Lycra shell fabric, cotton & silk, far infrared ray and anti-ultraviolet ray textile, thin heat-pressing high-grade non-weaving cloth and bicomponent compound fiber, etc. The grade of the textile & silk industry of our city has been greatly improved, which makes our comprehensive power at the leading place in Jiangsu Province. In 2002, the textile & silk industry of our city brought 3.5 billion Yuan with US$ 200 million from export. There are 78 companies whose annual sales revenue was over 5 million Yuan and 37 over 30 million Yuan. The annual output of yarn is 17,000t, cotton fabric 198 million meters, thin heat-pressing high-grade non-weaving cloth 1,500t, PP/PE bicomponent compound fiber 9,000t, thread 8,000t, garments 32 million sets and bedclothes 22.5 million sets. Our city has become domestic largest production base for bedclothes which takes up one third of the output in our whole country. The enterprises which mainly produce spinning and cotton fabric are Danmian Group, Xinlong Company, Danmao Spinning Co., Ltd., Dansheng Cloth Factory, Danqi Company, the Silk weaving Factory, Zhenjiang Corduroy Factory, the Golden Sun Dyeing General Factory and South China Silk Dyeing General Corporation, etc. Now our city possesses 150,000 spindles, Danmian Group is the top 50 strong enterprises of our country in textile industry, which owns 80,000 ring spinners, 1,400 open-end spinners, 660 Japanese air-jet spinners and 284 air-jet looms. In 2002, the sales revenue reached 490 million Yuan and profits 41.65 million Yuan. Xinlong Company is a large scale enterprise integrating silk weaving and dyeing into a whole. Now the company owns 96 sets of rapier looms, 72 sets of air-jet looms and 144 water-jet looms. The equipment and the development level are in the leading place in the same industry of Jiangsu Province. Danmao Spinning Company owns 15,000 fine spindles. The high count Lycra shell fabric made by the company has passed the Certificate of Dubang Company and gained the permit from the international Wool Bureau to export to Europe and America and earn US$ 8 million from export. The enterprises mainly producing threads are Danmian, Zhenjiang Corduroy Factory, the Second Thread Factory and the Thread Factory of our city, etc. The garments manufacturing is mainly divided into western suite, garments for export and other garments. The enterprises mainly producing western suites are Hualaishi, Ao’erfu, Shuai yingte, etc. The annual output is 620,000 sets and the suite production of Danyang is very famous inside and outside of Jiangsu Province. The enterprises producing garments for export are mainly the Western Suite Factory, Jiangshu Garments import & export Company Danyang Clothing Factory, the Second Clothing Factory, Embroideries Factory, Clothes-embroidering Factory, Shengxing Clothing Factory, Dasheng Dress, Feiya Dress, the city Knitting Garments Company, the New-World Garments Company and the Second Shirt Factory, etc. There are over 12 enterprises whose annual sales revenue is over US$ 30 million with US$ 68 million from export. The kinds of the garments for export are mainly real silk garment, Jacket, down jacket, Mountaineering apparel, shorts, culottes, woolen sweater, knitwear, shirt and pajamas, etc. The enterprises producing bedclothes are mainly Tanghuang, Beihua, Fushi, New Era, Le Tianlun, Shushu, among which Jiangsu Tanghuang Group is the first provincial one of our country to manufacture bedclothes. Bedclothes with Tanghuang brand is famous in our country, which was awarded the “Golden Bridge” by our Trade Ministry for successive 5 years. “Quan Qiukang” functional fabric was awarded the Gold Medal at China Textile Fair. Up to now, the group has become the comprehensive economic complex based on bedclothes, textile products for children use, that for hotel use, textile products for tourism, that for dyeing use and functional textile products. Jiangsu Beihua Group has 2,000 employees. Its annual output is 3 million sets of bedclothes, sleeping bags, raincoats, mountaineering bags, tents, etc. In 2002, the sales revenue reached 130 million Yuan with US$ 10 million from export. Jiangsu Fushi Bedclothes Company is a wholly-owned one from Taiwan, which mainly produces high-grade bedclothes of Mei Shuangshuang brand. The products sell well in both domestic and foreign markets. Our city actively encourages businessmen from both home and abroad to Danyang for investing in polyester fiber, high-grade shell fabric, functional shell fabric, post-dyeing arrangement, new & hi-grade bedclothes and clothes for exports, so as to improve the grade and level of our textile & silk industry. |
